Marketplaces in Poland 2026: Allegro’s Fortress, and the Line Forming at the Gate

Poland’s e-commerce market has been one of Europe’s most dynamic for years — but 2026 marks a shift in who’s paying attention to it. Our updated Marketplace Country Quadrant Poland on the most important marketplaces in Poland still shows Allegro’s grip on the market as unchallenged as ever. What’s new is the sudden crowd at the gate: TikTok Shop, About You and Onbuy are all making concrete moves into Poland this year.

Time to Read: appr. 5 min

Poland’s e-commerce market keeps growing — just not quite as fast as last year, and not evenly. According to ECDB, Polish e-commerce revenue reached €28.66 billion in 2025, up 10.9% year-over-year, with growth expected to ease slightly to 8.9% in 2026, taking the market to roughly €31.2 billion. The online share of total retail sits at 6.6% in 2025, essentially flat into 2026 — a reminder that despite the headlines, Poland’s shift online is still a gradual one compared to Western Europe.

Cross-border data underlines the point. 8.9% of Polish e-commerce revenue in 2025 went to purchases made abroad — and of that, 93.7% landed on Chinese stores. AliExpress, Temu and Shein aren’t peripheral players fighting for scraps; they’re the default answer to where Poles shop once they leave the domestic market.

Our freshly updated Marketplace Country Quadrant Poland 2026 reflects this market — but with a sharper edge than in previous years, and a clearer picture of which marketplaces in Poland actually deserve a seat at the table.

What’s Changed? Correcting for Distortion

The 2025 quadrant listed five names in the Generalists box. Looking at the data again, we don’t think that box should read as a genuine peer group at all.

Exits

Empik drops out of the Generalists box. Not because it lost relevance, but because ranking it alongside Allegro overstated the competitive reality — it moves down into three specialist boxes instead: DIY & Garden and Sports.

Morele exits DIY & Garden and Sports, remaining only in Electronics, after losing revenue across several categories in 2025.

eBay exits Electronics. Its role in Polish electronics trade has become marginal.

New Entries

ERLI enters the Generalists box. ERLI is a fully Polish-owned marketplace and Polish trade press consistently calls it the country’s number two marketplace. Its 2025 GMV of 1.8 billion PLN (+45% in 2025) outsizes Empik Marketplace’s roughly 1 billion PLN. In older versions of this quadrant we had missed out on ERLI, which we have now corrected.

Media-Expert enters Electronics. Poland’s most important electronics retailer launched its own third-party marketplace in autumn 2025.

Home&You enters Home & Living. A dedicated interior marketplace running on Mirakl since 2021, and a sharper category fit than the generalist names that used to occupy this box.

Hebe and Super-Pharm enter Beauty & Care. Both are established drugstore chains running confirmed third-party marketplace models — Hebe since 2022, Super-Pharm since 2024 — and a better fit for this category than the generalist names previously listed here.

Observations

Vinted does not appear in this year’s chart. By ECDB’s estimate, it’s the second-largest fashion platform in Poland by GMV, beaten only by Zalando. It stays out of the visual chart for the same structural reason as last year — our methodology centres on B2C marketplaces with professional seller relevance, and Vinted’s core model remains peer-to-peer resale — but a platform doing this much volume deserves this mention.

Douglas is not in the Beauty & Care box. It has a real offline retail footprint in Poland and runs a Mirakl-powered partner marketplace in several European markets, but we can’t confirm meaningful third-party volume specifically in Poland — so for now it’s a relevant retailer, not a marketplace entry.

The Most Important Marketplaces in Poland: The 2026 Quadrant in Detail

Generalists

Allegro: Still the undisputed anchor of Polish e-commerce, and still the platform every other name on this list is measured against.

Amazon: The clearest international generalist presence, though still a distant second to Allegro on home turf.

AliExpress & Temu: The Chinese pairing that dominates the price-driven end of the market — and the direct beneficiaries of Poland’s outsized appetite for cross-border shopping abroad.

ERLI: A fully Polish-owned marketplace built entirely on domestic capital, and consistently described in Polish trade press as the country’s number two marketplace. It also explicitly positions itself against Chinese platforms rather than alongside them, with no Chinese sellers on the platform by design.

Kaufland: Still small next to Allegro, but growing fast and a genuinely easier entry point for Western sellers.

Specialists by Category

Fashion & Shoes: Zalando leads on brand-driven positioning; Shein anchors the price-driven end; Polish player Modivo and its second retail destination eobuwie.pl fill up the chart.

Electronics: Morele holds its ground; MediaMarkt remains a solid brand-driven presence; Media-Expert enters fresh off its autumn 2025 marketplace launch.

Home & Living: Black Red White and Home&You represent the strong local front in this category, challenged by Shein.

DIY & Garden: Leroy Merlin and Castorama remain the category’s backbone, joined now by Empik.

Sports: Decathlon and Zalando cover the category’s poles, with Empik’s expanding third-party sports assortment earning it the third spot.

Beauty & Care: Zalando anchors the category, joined by two specialist drugstore chains-turned-marketplaces: Hebe and Super-Pharm, both a sharper fit for Beauty & Care than the generalist names that previously filled this box. Douglas, despite its retail strength, doesn’t clear the bar on confirmed marketplace volume in Poland.

The Line Is Forming: Who’s Circling Poland

Poland’s Unique Market Dynamics

Poland spent years being treated as a market with strong local roots and limited room for outsiders. That read is now out of date. Within roughly two years, a wave of players — foreign and domestic — have either launched or announced marketplaces here, and the pattern only makes sense as what it is: the fight for the Polish consumer is now fully on.

Already live, all launched in the past 12–24 months:

Kaufland’s marketplace went live in August 2024, Castorama’s followed in January 2025, and MediaMarkt’s in May 2025 — three retailers from three different categories, each converting a closed retail operation into a third-party platform within roughly a year of each other. None of these launches happened in isolation; they’re the leading edge of the same trend the newer arrivals below are now riding.

Not yet in the chart, but moving fast:

TikTok Shop launched in Poland on 15 June 2026, backed by InPost for logistics and BLIK for payments. It’s too early to say what this does to the category landscape — a few weeks of live data tells us nothing about whether social commerce reallocates Polish spending or just adds a channel on top. We may well be adding TikTok Shop to next year’s Generalists box.

About You launched its own marketplace in Poland in June 2026, opening with roughly 600 brands and 100,000 additional products on aboutyou.pl — Zalando diversifying its Polish exposure across two brands instead of one.

easyShop, the marketplace easyGroup is building with OnBuy, is set to launch across 21 European countries — Poland included — later in 2026. Nothing live yet, but a pure-marketplace model launching across that many markets simultaneously is not a small commitment.

The local Pushback:

Media-Expert’s own marketplace launch in autumn 2025 sits apart from this group — as Poland’s largest domestic electronics retailer, its move reads less like an outsider chasing the Polish market and more like a domestic incumbent defending its turf against exactly the kind of external pressure described here.

InPost Buy, live since March 2026 and still in its zero-commission welcome phase (through September 2026), isn’t a marketplace in the classical sense — founded by the biggest Polish logistics provider InPost, it offers no buy box and no seller commission, but focuses solely on monetisation through delivery fees instead. Around 4,000 merchants are already connected, including Modivo.

Marketplace Universe Insight: Six companies launching or preparing marketplaces in the same market within two years is not a coincidence. Poland has been identified as one of Europe’s more attractive growth opportunities precisely because it isn’t already crowded with generalists the way Germany or the UK are. Allegro’s dominance has, paradoxically, kept the field open.

Conclusion

The honest read on Poland in 2026 is that the market looks stable mostly because the challengers haven’t landed yet. Allegro’s position is not under real pressure today — but a market where TikTok Shop, About You, Castorama and MediaMarkt all show up within the same year is not a market anyone should assume stays quiet for long. For brands and sellers, the practical takeaway is this: the entry points for Poland are multiplying, and several of them (Kaufland, InPost Buy) offer meaningfully less competitive shelf space than fighting for visibility on Allegro directly. Whether that’s still true in twelve months is a different question — and one we intend to keep asking.

Key Learnings

Allegro’s dominance is not up for debate in 2026 — it’s the TIER standard everyone else in the Generalists box has to measure up against.

Cross-border spending is a Chinese story, full stop. 93.7% of what Poles spend abroad goes to Chinese stores — AliExpress, Temu and Shein aren’t fighting for scraps, they’re the default exit route from the domestic market.

Watch the platforms outside the chart as closely as the ones inside it. Vinted’s GMV already outranks most listed Fashion & Shoes players; Douglas has the retail footprint but not (yet) the confirmed marketplace volume in Poland.

Poland is no longer flying under the radar. Kaufland, Castorama and MediaMarkt all converted retail operations into marketplaces within a 12-month window — and TikTok Shop, About You, easyShop and InPost Buy have all made moves since, some live, some still ahead.

Not every domestic marketplace launch is about growth ambition. Media-Expert’s move looks more like defense against external pressure than expansion for its own sake — a distinction worth keeping in mind as more incumbents follow suit.

For brands weighing market entry, the timing question has changed. A year ago, Poland meant Allegro or nothing. Today there are genuinely easier, less crowded entry points — but that window won’t stay open indefinitely if this pace of new launches continues.

Around 20,000 SKUs were scaled internationally; individual markets could be technically activated in just two hours. Within the first year, the new countries already generated around 50% of Germany’s sales volume. Particularly striking: Italy became the second-strongest market after Germany, even though Kaufland has only been active there with its marketplace since September 2025.

Time to Read: appr. 5 min

From a German setup to European expansion

Handyhuellen.de has been active on Kaufland Germany since 2019. For the smartphone accessories specialist, the marketplace had long ceased to be a test channel and had become a solid foundation for further growth. When Kaufland expanded its marketplace presence across Europe, Handyhuellen.de faced an obvious question: How quickly could the existing German setup be transferred to additional countries?

The basis was already in place: Handyhuellen.de had been working with the integrator ChannelEngine for some time. Product data, mapping, pricing logic, stock, and content were already connected. That became the lever for the rollout into the six additional Kaufland regions Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, France, and Italy.

“We were able to simply reuse our existing setup and quickly activate new markets without adding operational complexity or additional resources. That made scaling across several regions much easier than we had expected.” – Krijn Twigt, Business Development Manager at handyhuellen.de

The challenge: Internationalising without operational fragmentation

Cross-border marketplace expansion quickly creates complexity: localised content, translations, consistent pricing and stock, VAT questions, regulatory requirements, and logistics processes all have to work across several countries.

For Handyhuellen.de, it was therefore crucial not to treat expansion as a series of separate country projects. This is where ChannelEngine and Kaufland Global Marketplace complemented each other:

ChannelEngine provided single mapping, automation, and central management of pricing, stock, and content processes.

Kaufland provided the country marketplaces, regional reach, and translation support.

One particular feature of the Kaufland setup also helped: sellers can manage all seven country marketplaces through one account.

Logistics and compliance remained lean: centralised fulfilment from the Dutch warehouse and a single VAT setup via EU OSS.

The key lever was single mapping. Because the products for Germany were already mapped in ChannelEngine, they could be used as the basis for the additional Kaufland markets. Kaufland handled the translations for the individual regions, while ChannelEngine enabled targeted adjustments, for example for images containing localised text.

This meant Handyhuellen.de did not have to rebuild listings market by market, while still being able to adapt its brand presentation.

“Handyhuellen.de is an excellent example of how sellers can unlock the full potential of cross-border expansion through Kaufland Global Marketplace. By combining Kaufland’s customer reach with ChannelEngine’s automation and centralised management, sellers can expand quickly into new markets while maintaining efficiency and control across regions. This setup gives sellers a scalable and agile way to accelerate their European growth.” – Matthias Kluth, Teamlead Sales DACH at Kaufland Global Marketplace

Two hours per market: When expansion becomes a process

Building on this foundation, Handyhuellen.de was able to activate new Kaufland regions very quickly. In individual markets, the technical setup took only around two hours. This allowed around 20,000 SKUs to be rolled out across several international markets without rebuilding the operational logic each time.

“ChannelEngine gave us one central control point for all Kaufland regions. We maintained full oversight of pricing, stock, and content while expanding across Europe. Centralised logistics and a single VAT setup also removed much of the typical friction of cross-border expansion. That allowed us to focus on scaling performance with control and efficiency.” – Krijn Twigt, Business Development Manager at handyhuellen.de

Italy shows the momentum of new markets

The expansion quickly developed positively for Handyhuellen.de – and, according to the company, was in line with the forecasts provided by Kaufland’s account manager.

“Within the first year, the new Kaufland markets generated around 50% of Germany’s sales volume. That confirmed that our expansion model works. With ChannelEngine, scaling across regions is no longer a complex project. It becomes a structured and repeatable process.” – Krijn Twigt, Business Development Manager at handyhuellen.de

Italy turned out to be a particular highlight: together with France, it was the most recent market to be added and has already become the strongest Kaufland market after Germany – even though Kaufland has only been active with its marketplace in Italy since September 2025.

For Handyhuellen.de, these data points are now more than just sales signals. Performance across the individual regions feeds into the broader e-commerce roadmap and helps assess where further investment may make sense, including potential future webshop launches.

Conclusion: Scaling starts before the next market

The Handyhuellen.de case shows that European marketplace expansion becomes most efficient when existing structures can grow with the business. ChannelEngine played the central role as the integration and automation layer. Kaufland complemented this operational basis with country marketplaces, translation support, and regional demand.

This turned a successful German setup into a scalable European model – not without operational work, but without having to rebuild each country from scratch.

Key Learnings

Marketplace data is becoming strategic. It not only reveals sales potential, but also helps guide further e-commerce investment.

The numbers show how strongly the setup scaled: Handyhuellen.de rolled out around 20,000 SKUs across all seven Kaufland regions; individual markets could be technically activated in around two hours, and the new countries generated around 50% of Germany’s sales volume within the first year.

Single mapping accelerates internationalisation. Once product data is cleanly set up, new markets can be activated much faster.

Marketplace reach needs operational scalability. Growth only becomes efficient when content, pricing, stock, VAT, and logistics work together.

Young markets can become relevant quickly. Italy has already become Handyhuellen.de’s second-strongest Kaufland market after Germany.

In a nutshell
Getting started with Kaufland Global Marketplace is operationally relatively simple – first sales can happen within just a few days. However, quick success does not come from listing products alone, but from the combination of competitive pricing, targeted visibility, and early internationalization. Sellers who actively leverage these levers can build significant traffic and sales in a short period of time.

Time to Read: appr. 5 min

What “quick success” really means on the Kaufland Marketplaces

“Quick success” is often misunderstood in the context of marketplaces. A fast start is not the same as sustainable success.

On the Kaufland marketplaces, three levels can be distinguished:

Time-to-first-sale: First sales can happen quickly – as in the case of Schuhhaus Hittcher, within just two days

Initial traction: Visibility, traffic, and first conversions

Scalable growth: Expansion across multiple countries and assortments

Operational access is low-threshold: registration, onboarding, and even expansion into additional countries can be done with relatively little effort.

The real bottleneck, however, is not the entry – but the execution that follows.

Hack #1: Start broad – but refine quickly

Kaufland Global Marketplaces offers access to around 6,400 product categories. It therefore makes sense to start with a broader assortment initially in order to test demand.

The key point: Breadth is only the first step – not the strategy.

Successful sellers:

use reports such as competitive benchmarking

quickly identify high-performing SKUs

clean up their assortment early

Those who simply “list everything” risk low visibility, weak conversion and unnecessary operational complexity.

Hack #2: The BuyBox decides – and so does pricing

As on almost all marketplaces, the same applies on the Kaufland marketplaces: Without competitive pricing, there are no sales.

The BuyBox is primarily determined by:

total price (including shipping)

delivery time

seller performance

With features like Smart Pricing and Smart Pricing Plus, prices can be automatically adjusted to the competitive landscape.

According to Kaufland Global Marketplace-data, sellers using Smart Pricing Plus achieve on average up to 28% higher revenue. This figure is based on an analysis of more than 3,384 sellers over a six-month period, comparing performance before and after activating the tool.

Important: The actual impact depends heavily on category, competition, and demand. Smart Pricing is therefore not a guaranteed growth driver – but a key lever to remain competitive in the first place.

Hack #3: Visibility is not random – it can be controlled

Organic visibility does not happen automatically. Especially at the beginning, Sponsored Ads are a key lever.

Real-world data from specific seller cases shows:

Sellers such as Songmics and eazzzy mattress toppers achieved around 169% more traffic and nearly 70% revenue growth through Sponsored Product Ads

The seller Genius achieved 61% more traffic on the product detail page through targeted campaigns

In the Electronics & Computers category, the average ROAS is around 1,100% on Kaufland.de (April 2025 to March 2026)

The figures are based on selected seller cases and platform analyses and cannot be generalized across all categories. However, these results demonstrate the potential and require active campaign management and competitive offers.

Sponsored Product Ads (SPA) are therefore less a scaling tool and more a visibility accelerator for market entry.

Hack #4: Pricing and Ads only work together

A common mistake: sellers treat pricing and advertising separately.

Individual seller cases show that traffic can be significantly increased through targeted campaigns.
However, whether this translates into revenue (e.g. nearly 70% growth for Songmics and eazzzy) depends directly on whether the offer is competitive – especially in terms of price.

This confirms a core dynamic:

Ads drive demand

Pricing determines monetization

Without competitive pricing ad spend is wasted, without ads even strong offers remain invisible. The combination of both is the real growth driver.

Hack #5: Think international early – but act selectively

A key advantage of Kaufland Global Marketplace is the ease of expanding into multiple European markets.

Sellers can:

launch in multiple countries within around 2.5 hours

use automated translations

outsource payment processing and parts of customer support

This significantly lowers entry barriers. At the same time: Internationalization amplifies existing performance – it does not replace it.

Recommendation: Identify what works first, then scale it selectively across additional markets.

Hack #6: Use automation where it matters

Kaufland Global Marketplaces offers a range of tools and services that simplify operational processes – from pricing automation to campaign features.

These can help to:

reduce repetitive tasks

react faster to market changes

enable operational scaling

However: Automation delivers the most value when the fundamentals (pricing, assortment, content) are already properly set up.

Hack #7: Use AI as operational support

With solutions like the intelligent chat assistant called “Ailora”, Kaufland Global Marketplace is increasingly integrating AI-driven support into the seller workflow.

Current use cases include:

performance analysis and KPI insights

automatic translation of content and communication

product data optimization

support with delivery time accuracy

In the future, AI is expected to take on a more active role in operational processes: suggesting actions and executing them after seller approval.

Classification: AI can significantly speed up execution, but it does not replace strategic decision-making.

Hack #8: Leverage external reach – but don’t rely on it

Kaufland Global Marketplace also supports sellers through external traffic channels such as:

Google Shopping

price comparison platforms

social media

its own reach channels

However, marketplace experience shows that external reach works best when offers are already performing well internally. The same principle applies: Reach alone is not enough, it only amplifies existing performance.

Marketplace Universe Insight

The biggest advantage of Kaufland Global Marketplace is not the entry, but the combination of reach, infrastructure, and scalability.

The case studies (e.g. ~169% traffic growth, ~70% revenue increase, or ROAS of 1,100% in certain categories) clearly show that growth is the result of deliberate execution.

At the same time, a clear pattern emerges:

Access is easy

Tools are available

Reach is substantial

The decisive factor is therefore not whether sellers start, but how consistently they use the available levers.

Quick success happens where:

pricing is managed with discipline

visibility is actively built

successful setups are scaled quickly

Or put differently: The barrier to entry is low, but operational excellence remains the real competitive advantage.

Key Learnings

Automation and AI support execution, but do not replace solid fundamentals

A fast start is possible, but sustainable success requires active management

Pricing and ads are the core growth levers

Internationalization is a multiplier, not a shortcut

In a Nutshell:

Brands on Kaufland Global Marketplace can do more than just sell – they can stay visible, enhance their brand, and boost sales. Kaufland offers flexible partnership models (Marketplace Seller, Vendor Partner, Content Partner and Advertising Partner), which can be tailored to specific needs. The Brand Relations team provides 360° support, marketing campaigns, retail media solutions, and performance analysis. With targeted strategies throughout the marketing funnel – from Awareness to Conversion – Kaufland helps brands grow. All partners accessing tailored solutions to maximize brand presence and for any budget size.

Brands on Kaufland Marketplaces

Brands present on Kaufland Global Marketplace today have far more opportunities than just “selling.” The Brand Relations team provides a clear system of partnership models and services that help brands enhance their visibility, sales, and brand management – from independent marketplace selling to vendor cooperation, content, and advertising partnerships.

The focus is on flexibility: brands can use the four partner types individually or in combination, tailoring their setup to their strategic goals. This is supported by a wide range of services, from campaign planning and content optimization to detailed performance analyses.

The Brand Relation Partner Types at a Glance:

Marketplace Seller
Brands sell their products directly on the marketplace and handle pricing, content, and customer service.
Ideal for brands that want full control over their branding, growth, and sales strategy.

Vendor Partner
Brands sell their goods to Kaufland, which then distributes and manages content and campaigns.
Best for brands looking to leverage Kaufland’s reach and expertise while outsourcing operational tasks.

Content Partner
Brands manage their product content but don’t sell directly, ensuring their listings are consistent and brand-compliant.
Suitable for brands that want control over their presentation while leaving sales and logistics to other sellers.

Advertising Partner
Brands invest in marketing through homepage placements, brand shops or sponsored ads to increase visibility.
Perfect for brands looking to boost visibility while sales are managed by others.

There are various other opportunities and solutions to explore or development, always depending on the need of the partner.

These partnership models are not exclusive; they can be combined flexibly. Many brands choose to utilize all four models in a comprehensive partnership: selling as a Marketplace Seller, also distributing via Kaufland in the Vendor model, controlling product information as a Content Partner, and boosting visibility through Advertising measures. This creates a seamless integration of sales, content, and marketing.

Services for Brands: From Content to Insights

Kaufland offers a wide range of services for these partner types, which brands can combine depending on their strategy:

One Face to your Brand: A 360° approach with a dedicated account manager coordinating content, campaigns, and reporting.

Campaigns: Execution of targeted marketing efforts like homepage placements or newsletters social media integrations for instance.

Retail Media: Tools like Sponsored Ads for products and brands or Brand Shops to boost awareness and conversions.

Content Solutions: Exclusive rights, custom adjustments, and Rich Content for top-quality brand presentation.

Reviews: Integrating product reviews from the brand’s own shop to build trust and consistency.

Here are two examples of brand shops on the Kaufland marketplaces.

The Holistic Journey of a Brand – From Awareness to Loyalty

The strategy follows the classic marketing funnel:

Awareness & Consideration (Top and Mid Funnel)

Brand Shop: Regularly updated to showcase the full range and tell the brand story.

Homepage Placements: Featured multiple times a year to drive traffic and visibility.

Newsletter Campaigns: Reaches a large number of high-intent potential customers.

Social Media Activations: Collaborations with Kaufland’s social media channels to reach a younger audience.

Conversion & Loyalty (Bottom Funnel)

Sponsored Ads: Targeted ads for relevant search queries driving traffic to product pages.

Content & Reviews: High-quality descriptions, images, and reviews to support purchase decisions.

Promotions & Coupons: Time-sensitive discount actions to encourage purchase.

Through this combination of services, Kaufland supports brands along the entire marketing journey, from awareness to conversion and loyalty, with continuous optimization via data insights.

What role does the Brand Relations department play at Kaufland Global Marketplace, and what goals are you pursuing in the next 2-3 years?

The Brand Relations department is key to forging strong brand partnerships and driving international growth across the Kaufland marketplaces. Our goal is to establish Kaufland as the preferred e-commerce platform for international brands. To achieve this, we create a data-driven ecosystem that supports brands in maximizing their visibility and successfully expanding their business. With tailored solutions, we help our partners strengthen their market positioning and perception for the long term.

How do you work with brands, and what makes your approach unique?

Our approach is highly personalized. We don’t apply a one-size-fits-all model; instead, we develop customized solutions based on the specific needs of each brand. That’s why we start with a collaborative process to analyze your goals, target audiences, and brand values, which allows us to create a truly tailored strategic plan. We refuse to be constrained by categories or standard models, focusing instead on crafting a unique and compelling brand experience for your target audience on Kaufland. All of our partnerships are built on a foundation of transparency and close communication to ensure we achieve genuinely measurable and sustainable results.

Which brands do you work closely with, and which project is an example of your work?

We collaborate with global brands such as Samsung, Huawei, Warner Brothers, Deutsche Telekom, and LEGO. A prime example is the LEGO Takeover, where we engineered a fully integrated brand experience. This included a customized branded storefront and tailored campaigns, resulting in a success that was both visually stunning and strategically effective
