Shein revenue increases 32% in the UK
Online fashion platform Shein is growing rapidly in the United Kingdom. Last year, its revenue there exceeded 2.3 billion euros. Compared to 2023, this was an increase of 32 percent. More on Ecommercenews

Peak season fees at Amazon
In the UK and Germany, Amazon is charging FBA users an additional fee of 10 to 15 pence or 19 cents per package from mid-October to mid-January. The aim is to secure fulfillment capacity, delivery speed, and customer service. From the end of October, Amazon will also require certified package dimensions in Germany. EU classifies Zalando as a “very large online platform”
The EU Court of Justice has classified Zalando as a “very large online platform” under the Digital Services Act, rejecting Zalando’s appeal against this designation. Walmart recruits European sellers
The US retailer aims to globalize its marketplace business and attract European merchants to its platforms for the US and South American markets. JD.com launches Joybuy in Europe
After its launch in the UK, JD.com has now introduced Joybuy in France and Germany – independently of its takeover of MediaMarktSaturn in Germany. According to Alexander Graf, Joybuy is being used as leverage against MediaMarktSaturn’s parent company Ceconomy. The strategy has been effective so far. 288 million US customers against Amazon
A US court has upheld a class action lawsuit against Amazon for unfair competition and excessive fees. At the core of the allegations are fee increases of 42 percent within just five years. On average, 27 cents of every dollar spent on the marketplace goes to Amazon rather than the seller. This makes the marketplace business far more profitable for Amazon than its own retail sales. In addition, various pricing clauses are under scrutiny for allegedly hindering fair competition. More at Heise
