With this claim, MediaMarktSaturn has become one of the best-known consumer electronics retailers in Europe. In the 2023/2024 fiscal year, the chain generated sales of 22.4 billion euros (Germany: 9.6 billion euros). Of this, 5.1 billion was generated by online business.

Since the launch of the marketplace in Germany in 2020, MediaMarktSaturn has been pursuing a comprehensive marketplace strategy in addition to its strong brick-and-mortar presence: in 2021, the company opened up to become a marketplace in Spain, followed a year later by Austria. Last year, the marketplaces in Italy and the Netherlands were added. And the expansion continues: the launch in Belgium is on the agenda for this year. IT hardware is the top seller, accounting for 40% of sales, followed by large household appliances (10%) and TVs, smartphones and small household appliances (8% each). MediaMarktSaturn is constantly expanding its portfolio with new subcategories to attract new target groups. This also means that niche products such as cat trees find their way into the range.

In 2024, the marketplace experienced significant growth:

  • The number of retailers rose by 49% from 1,060 to 1,600
  • The product range grew from 1.2 million to 2 million items
  • GMV grew by more than 100% to €277 million.
